'stress' seems like either a long form advertisement for justice's upcoming jacket line or a convoluted homage to the video for 'come to daddy' by aphex twin. the 'cross' well is running thin for singles, new album please.
Yeah, the tower blocks are straight "Come to Daddy," and then of course there's the obvious Clockwork Orange parallels. I just watched a talk about Paris' "racaille" thugs and French hip hop at the EMP Pop Conference and saw someone in BV's comments thread attempt the connection. But, yeah, that album is not exactly stacked with singles.
for me, the video was uncomfortable because of the racial tension in france and the history of french hardcore electronic music from three to five years ago's alignment with simmering anti-minority sentiment. i'm not saying that the proponents or artists from that era are prejudiced, but the music's following was definitely aided partially by xenophobia and buried resentment for outsiders.
i don't know what justice are trying to say with the video (if anything, it may just be the brainchild of the director). with the great electronic music that's being created at the moment in france, i would prefer it not to have a strong political message for either side of france's current social issues. there are better avenues for political awareness, dance music doesn't seem to be the place.
cute, wittle frenchy wenchy gang members.
that was plain stupid trendy music and all.
