yawn, dude! everybody says that in like every single rap book and I WILL argue with it.
I think this best rap record of all time is
"Beats To The Rhyme" by Run-DMC. And I'm totally right.
Agreed, Mr Mudede.
I happened to be listening to some tracks off that record on the iPod a few days ago. Hadn't checked out the Eric B & Rakim in a long while before then.
lars: "Beats To The Rhyme" is certainly number two on my list. Pure hiphop. Now, lar, what is the innovation in that track that separated it from the pack? Do you know?
i don't know about all this innovation talk, but i DO know dyme def sounds cool over rakim samples
'innovation' is not my qualifier for #1 hiphop song of all time.
maybe if i was going for #1 most innovative.
the best hiphop makes you, as LL said, make 'that face'. "Follow The Leader" is incredible, but it's more a chin-stroker than a face-masher to me. "Beats To The Rhyme" is raw, and raw is paramount.
Charles, you're opinions that are presented as fact are as lame as that 2pac pic.
Public Enemy's "Revolutionary Generation" FTW.

Charles,
With all due respect, "the best is the enemy of the good."
"Follow The Leader" is an all-the-way-live cut, though. Just like "Fight the Power."
