This is nauseating from lots of angles.
a) I could someday be in her shoes.
b) No senior should be subjected to this kind of hardship and worry, let alone a jazz icon.

Wow, the cravenness of the listing is what really gets me: "Excellent opportunity to own the property of legendary jazz artist Ernestine Anderson. Views of Mount Rainier and Garfield High School where she attended school. Loads of potential. Home is a fixer and value is in the land."
Translated: you could fix up the house, but you'd probably do better to demolish it and build a couple townhomes on the land, from which you'll have a lovely view the old high school of the legend you'll be displacing. Sick stuff.
Hm. That's actually the listing from her second home, which she is trying to sell . . . sorry, about that . . . sympathy levels dropping . . .
What's worst is that the listing trumpets that you can own the property of someone famous, but doesn't say that the famous person is a) alive and b) doesn't want to sell. It's despicable advertising.
I actually read this listing a few days ago while househunting and, being utterly unschooled in all things jazz, assumed it was just a house she'd lived in as a kid, or that she'd passed away. Similar to the Cobain and Hendrix houses. It wasn't until I saw Jamieson's article yesterday that I realized the truth.
I really don't mean any disrespect to this talented woman, but how does a 79 year old with irregular work own a 6 bedroom home with a $5,000 mortgage in addition to a 1/3 of a million dollar bungalow nearby AND have a cash flow problem? When did she buy the house she owns the back mortgage on?
That's not an accusation, it's a question. Has she been struggling for a while or is this a predatory lender story?
