NME is a fucking joke. That publication is the most myopic tabloid I've ever had the misfortune of reading in my life. Every shitty band to pop out of London is THE NEW BEATLES/OASIS/ARCTIC MONKEYS/BEST BAND EVER!

I'm hardly a flag-waving patriot conservative, but U.S. music does NOT need British approval.

I know that I am in the minority here, but I really wish Lil Wayne and his tired beats/mediocre, no-talent lyrics would just go the fuck away. It may have been original back in 1988/89 to be gangsta on wax, but there is nothing original about what he does today.
But whatever, guess you gotta keep the lemmings believing that he actually is "The Greatest Rapper of all time"...

And while I love TV on the Radio, what the hell are they doing on this list? Haven't they been in the "cool" public eye for like what, five years now?...

This is just a list of American bands listed in order of their popularity / record sales in the UK. This has nothing to do with cool. Note the absence of No Age, Grizzly Bear, the Dodos, Vetiver (actually "cool" US bands ATM), their absence probably has something to do with sales. Blah. The cover looks like an ad for Saved By the Bell.

Someone's not doing their homework. They moved to London, I think you guys even reported on it, and have been playing a lot of shows over there and getting UK press.

@15 - Yeah, I know they moved to London, thus the sentence after the one you posted: "The fact that British people like their band so much makes a little more sense of their relocation to London."

Just because a band moves to England doesn't mean they immediately make NME's top 25 cool list. I was surprised to see their name on there, is that so strange?

Jeff, since they moved to London, NME has been pretty into them, they've covered them a few times. So not really surprising at all. Grace Jones on the other hand... I'm kinda surprised about this rant in general since it seems like half the list has played the Block Party and gets covered all the time here, the snide comment about Pitchfork might as equally be applied to The Stranger. Who knows, maybe they are reading your paper and biting your coverage as well.
