Tonight in Music: Nothing Happens Today

posted by on September 15 at 10:39 AM

Today’s U&C listings say “Nothing happens today.” And today’s U&C listings are right—this evening’s listings are pretty bleak.

Now please enjoy a few songs about nothing…

Elliott Smith - “Ballad of Big Nothing”

Air Supply - “Making Love Out of Nothing At All”

Metallica - “King Nothing”

Well, then i guess you have no excuse for not going to the Get Loweded show at the ReBar tonight, featuring Golden Robot Army and members of the People's Republic of Komedy! The theme this month is 'post-apocalyptic'!

Oh, guys, guys, guys ... Jeff Hanson at Chop Suey? C'mon.

It's misspelled in your listings as "Hansen," so hopefully that didn't lead you astray. But that's Jeff Hanson, a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter with a couple BRILLIANT albums under his belt, and another out right now (that I haven't yet heard).

Seriously, this is the guy with the girly voice who writes GORGEOUS songs in the same vein as Elliott Smith. He kinda sounds like Alison Krauss singing Elliott songs. It's really terrific.

DEFINITELY worth recommending to your readers. Definitely.

I encourage you to post something quick to catch folks before they leave work!

Forgot to mention: All three albums are on Kill Rock Stars. Does that help?
