Comment by Kathy Fennessy

Pretty much anything by the Impressions; not just "Move on Up," but also "Keep on Pushin'," "People Get Ready," and "We're a Winner." As for P-Funk, not just "One Nation," but also "Chocolate City" and "Up for the Downstroke." As for James Brown, I'd start with "Funky President" and "It's a New Day" before seguing into Bill Withers ("Lean on Me") or Stevie Wonder ("Higher Ground"). And as a tribute to Obama's island roots, I'd throw in the "Hawaii 5-0" theme.
