Blue On Blue

Posted by on Tue, Nov 6, 2012 at 6:43 PM

Charles Mudede was singing "Blue on Blue" earlier today and now it's stuck in my head. I'm sitting in a bar that keeps projecting a color-coded US map. I can't hear anything and all I can think about is BLUE. I made a little BLUE playlist to keep me company before I go check out some election parties!

Jay Reatard - "Turning Blue"
New Order - "Blue Monday"
Hüsker Dü - "Pink Turns to Blue"
The Avett Brothers - "Blue November"
Exploding Hearts - "You're Black and Blue"

Anything by Blue Öyster Cult, the Shocking Blue and... Deep Blue Something? T.Rex also has all those songs with "Blues" in the title...

I CAN'T STOP BITING MY NAILS. YOU SHOULD SEE THESE NUBBINS.

Argh, this could never end! All of those great blues songs and sides and guys with "Blue" in their name. Then schmaltzy-kitsch romantic 50s songs like "Mr. Blue." In my generation, Iggy Pop's "Turn Blue," Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue," Tommy James' "Crystal Blue Persuasion," Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue," Lou Reed's "The Blue Mask," Fine Young Cannibals' best song "Blue" ... then Blue Angel, Cyndi Lauper's awesome wavo-billy band before her solo work. It goes on and on, gloriously. Oy.
