#8: "Why Can't It Be Christmastime All Year?" - Rosie Thomas

Posted by on Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 11:59 AM

I just returned to Seattle after spending the last four days in New York City, which is a mecca for someone who loves Christmas as much as I do. It snowed, everything was covered in lights and glitter and Christmas music was blasting from every storefront and street corner.

Now that I'm home, though, post-vacation depression is setting in—that is the one downfall of having the perfect trip. I miss the man playing Christmas songs on his saxophone in Central Park and the giant Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. I miss the snow and I miss all the lights strung up all over Little Italy; I miss the ice skating and the breakdancing Santa's.

This song is making me feel better, though. It's a new holiday tune from Rosie Thomas's Christmas record A Very Rosie Christmas, and it is quite possibly the happiest Christmas song ever written in the history of all Christmas songs. I listened to it this weekend while strolling through Central Park.

Rosie Thomas is also hosting a holiday concert this year—Rosie Thomas and Friends Present a Very Rosie Christmas at Town Hall on December 14th. You can buy tickets via Ticketmaster.

Damn, no volume control on the embedded player so I can't listen to this at work. The first 6 bars I did hear were "Mr. Blue Sky"-tastic though.

If it was Christmas all year, I'd kill myself.
