John Spalding Benefit Concert with Minus the Bear, Rocky Votolato, and More

Posted by Megan Seling on Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 4:28 PM

Local musician John Spalding passed away last month from cancer and in his memory, friends have rallied together and organized a benefit show which will celebrate his life and help his family pay the remaining medical bills.

On the bill: Minus the Bear, Rocky Votolato, Past Lives, Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death, and other guests. The show is Friday, January 9th at Showbox at the Market, and tickets are on sale now for $20 via Ticketmaster. All ticket proceeds will benefit the John D. Spalding Medical Fund. Additional donations can be made to the fund at any Bank of America location.

Before he died, John also finished a solo record called The Beautiful Truth, which he recorded under the name Loveland. Friends hope to officially release it soon. You can hear songs and get release updates via Loveland's MySpace page.
