It's the splashiest win yet in the Fleet Foxes' year-end victory lap. Congrats to the bearded wonder boys (as well as Sub Pop and Phil Ek) and confidential to everyone who believes Fleet Foxes has more to offer than Dear Science: You're insane.

YOU'RE ALL INSANE.

Sorry, I don't have anything to back that up with, I just wanted to join in the fun. I should be firm on my 2008 Album of the Year by March or so.

schmader:

you think cause you used bold, you're right, but I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT.

srsly, the drums on that one tv on the radio song that make it into some "tribal/dance" party are the most embarrassing sounds of 2008. and i LIKE the album.

fleet foxes smashes. just cause it's @ starbucks and "non-cool" people who think REI is fashion listen to it, or cause everybody who's anybody in the S-E-A is soooo over NW ferry boat indie "rock" doesn't mean it's wack.

Listen, you vowelless bully. I never said Fleet Foxes was wack. It's pretty and dramatic and interesting. But Dear Science is a miracle.

I feel out of step like minor threat up in here, because I'm just not feeling either of these albums.

a christmas miracle for each and all. fuck, i should be working right now.

my bad schmader, but i get a lil bent out of shape @ seattle not really appreciating fleet foxes like the rest of the world. i understand matters of preference, so i don't need grandy to love them, and i understand nepotism, so the weekly never had credibility on the issue of ff's goodness when it mattered, but even the times and p-i wrote rote boringness (yeah, i know, but something could have been done...).

it would be great to hear just one person from seattle stand up and say: this popular band we've produced and the whole world loves? i wholeheartedly support it!

"this popular band we've produced and the whole world loves? i wholeheartedly support it!"

Didn't sub pop used to have a nirvana shirt that said that?

Neither FF nor TVOTR sound anything at all like dubstep. FAIL.

Matson: "it would be great to hear just one person from seattle stand up and say: this popular band we've produced and the whole world loves? i wholeheartedly support it!"

I guess you were to drunk to see the capacity crowd at the block party nearly cream themselves over the FF.

I wasn't ...well I was too drunk, but I still saw it.

FWIW: Moondoggies>Dutchess and the Duke>Fleet Foxes.

Jaws Are Dropping for the Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes, listen up. It's not you. It's me. I was not a fan. I'd read all the praise from critics and fans and brushed it off. Just another young band getting hyped for no good reason ...

I could not have been more wrong. I'm sorry. I get it now.

The Fleet Foxes are onstage right now and the band sounds relaxed and confident. Their sun-drenched lyrics and soaring vocal harmonies are commanding. The crowd is as large as it's been all weekend and throughout the audience jaws are dropping and chills are being induced.

Holy shit! I agree with Eric Grandy! WTF?! I actually don't love the TV or Foxes albums. Portishead all the way. Third was the best album by miles.

@13, I agree about the Duchess & the Duke and the Moondoggies, despite the latter's horrible name. Zzzz on Portishead, but Dear Science has really grown on me.

Being the mot overrated band in the world is TVOTR most impressive accomplishment. White people feel better about themselves for liking it. FF is really good, but The Walkmen, Cononr Oberst, MGMT, Black Keys and Spiritualized all released better albums this year.

Grundy, what did you listen to growing up? And do you huff paint thinner?

Oh no, the bible didn't vote my favorite record of the year, Dear Science, number one! Why didn't they, I thought it was pretentious enough to make it, I swear.

Fuck that. Alopecia is a better work of art than both Dear Science and Fleet Foxes S/T Debut combined.
