Album Ecstatic

lavalle_theestatic.jpgMaud Newton says that Mos Def's next album is titled The Ecstatic, and it's named after a book. He says:

"The name of the album is The Ecstatic. I titled it after one of my favorite novels by Victor LaValle and I'm really excited about it — it's a lot shorter than some of my previous work but it's still really full. [Guests include] Slick Rick, Jay Electronica, Black Thought and working with Madlib."

The Ecstatic is a really great debut novel. It's about a tremendously fat, mentally ill man whose life is falling to shit. And LaValle's book of stories, Slapboxing With Jesus, is great fun, too.

It should also be noted that either of the book's covers (the hardcover is above left, the paperback is on the right) would be a good album cover.
