Fat Man Dances to Beyonce, World Laughs

Posted by on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 12:55 PM

About 24 hours ago, I decided I like that Beyonce song "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)." Until about 24 hours ago, I thought the song was annoying (and the video even more so). The chorus of whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh oh oh ohs grew on me, though. It won me over. (Mostly. The shout out to her own line of jeans still makes me wonder if it's just an elaborate jingle.)

Anyway, in my search for the song on YouTube, I found this video. It's already a week old, which is about a century in viral video time, but whatever. When I turned to Grant Brissey and said "Should I post a video of a fat guy in a leotard reenacting the new Beyonce video?" he laughed and said. "Yes." So blame him.

The camera wobble from room shaking stomps is the best.

Some things, m'dear, just ain't right.

Or, to be more specific: If some overweight man wants to put on a leotard and dance around, that's his business. If he wants to film it and put it on YouTube, that's his own business. If someone wants to watch it, that's their own business. And if you want to post it, that's your own business. Well, okay, Grant's, too.

But this is one of those experiences that I, at least, end up not sharing with my friends, mostly because they're going to look at you and say, "Why were you watching a video of a fat man dancing to Beyonce?"

And, well, it's a fine question. Because Megan posted it? Ri-ight. And if she posted the masturbation video she made in the company restroom with her phone camera ... oh, wait.

Okay, bad example. But you know how they say, "Two wrongs don't make a right"? Something similar applies. Each stage—dancing, filming, sharing, viewing, posting, and then the broader viewing by Slog readers—is well and fine in and of itself. But taken together, they represent ... um ... well, something that ain't right.

Must be Beyonce.

Oh, well. At least it wasn't the club mix of Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch.

It's at least 3 months old. The sexy dancer is part of a "morning-zoo" radio DJ team in Cleveland, Cincy or some other lame Midwest city. But god is he hot!
