Better Oscillate Than Never

Posted by on Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Local promoter/producer Patrick Haenelt reports that his excellent leftfield-electronic-music night Oscillate will be resurrected April 22 at Chop Suey. During its 3.5-year run at SeeSound Lounge and Baltic Room, Oscillate brought in world-class artists such as Richard Devine, Christopher Willits, Lowfish, Portable, Barem, and many others, while giving unconventional local producers a platform from which to shine.

Oscillate returns with a strong Northwest flavor. ER Don, Logic Probe, Ya No Mas, and AP01T will all be performing live sets.

UPDATE: More info from Haenelt: "[Oscillate] will be a monthly... the day of the week might change each month, but there will be an installment every month. I want to be able to get some national (and international) acts that might be touring or in the area; as well as showcasing our amazing talent pool here in Seattle. I want to keep up the same level of talent as was the norm before with Oscillate, while trying to keep costs reasonable. It will be a fun time, I promise!"

Press release after the cut.

what is Oscillate?

OSCILLATE started as a weekly showcase of live electronic music (at the Belltown club See Sound Lounge)
in June of 2004. While at See Sound, the night became an unlikely hit and quickly became more than what the promoters Patrick Haenelt, Greg Skidmore, and Paul Edwards, had expected from a quiet tuesday of downtempo and ambient electronica. They decided to move the night over to the Baltic Room; where they continued showcasing (mostly) live electronic music. While keeping with the earlier flavor of more left field electronics, they were also able to present more dance oriented music in this vein. They continued the night for almost 4 years at the Baltic Room; ending their run there in early 2008. In the four years at The Baltic Room, OSCILLATE showcased live performances from artists including Lowfish, [a]pendics shuffle, Pan/Tone, Jake Fairely (Fairmont), Solvent, Ectomorph, Someone Else, The Flashbulb, Richard Devine, Roger O'Donnell (of The Cure), Christopher Willits, Halou, KJ Sawka, Jerry Abstract (live), Mike Shannon, Fred Giannelli (The Kooky Scientist), and more.
In early 2008, Oscillate took an extended hiatus due to main instigator; Patrick Haenelt (electrosect), moving on to work with BROKEN DISCO. After recieving many calls, emails, and personal requests from supporters and fans, Patrick started looking at the idea of bringing OSCILLATE back as a monthly event. In January of 2009, Matt Introcut (a good friend and supporter) started working as a talent buyer at the Seattle club, Chop Suey.
After booking a series of shows that were very similiar to Oscillate; Introcut and Patrick came upon the idea of hosting OSCILLATE at Chop Suey. It was agreed to bring the night back to that club as a monthly. The opening night of the new series will be on Wed. April 22, and will feature live performances from Northwest electronic artists: ER DON, LOGIC PROBE, YA NO MAS (aka Beatseeka), and Portland band; AP01T. These will all be live performances and will feature a stage full of vintage and modern electronic gear....
