This Last Week on Line Out

Posted by Mark Wetzler on Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 5:37 PM

TUESDAY 3/3
Jeff Kirby explained why he still loves Mastodon, and Eric Grandy fessed up to overusing "twee," "dreampop," and "jangly." Plus: Scott Walker; Travis Ritter's fantasy headlines about new releases by Neko Case, the Monks, and others; a few words about Art Brut; and Wu-Tang Clan.

WEDNESDAY 3/4
Paul Constant brought us news of an album selling for $1,000,000,000 on Amazon (lone customer review: "This CD is so metal that when I played it in a pet store all the animals started sacrificing themselves to Satan!"). Plus: Nadwuar vs. Fleet Foxes; and that one dude from Dazed and Confused.

THURSDAY 3/5
AEG president called Michael Jackson "sane" while Grant Brissey called him "bat-shit crazy." Dave Segal watched a drunk white girl dance. Plus: Biggie Smalls; a review of Clues at the Vera Project; and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

FRIDAY 3/6
Dave Segal got a flabbergasting text message from Detroit. Kelly O (who happens to be from Detroit) made a plea for better merch. And Paul Constant guessed why no one's buying U2's album.

SATURDAY 3/7
Christopher Frizzelle and Bethany Jean Clement argued over Friday night's saddest sights: was it this guy (seen at the M. Ward show) or this guy (seen collapsing outside Barca)? Plus: lyrics that break Eric Grandy's heart.

SUNDAY 3/8
Dave Segal saw These Are Powers and PWRFL Power at Vera Project. Plus: the problem with Phil Elverum; and crate-digging at the Lo-Fi.

MONDAY 3/9
Jonathan Spangenthal-Lee asked: "What happened to the Irish Emigrant?" Plus: Mobb Deep; Kutiman; the release date of U.S.E.'s next album; Dyno Jamz; and a discussion about Pitchfork's (horribly) redesigned website.
