I'm Really Excited About Tonight's Disney Cover Night

Posted by on Wed, Mar 11, 2009 at 11:23 AM

I think the excitement is due partly because I loved Disney-related shit when I was growing up (I'm a girl, I liked princesses, I'm sorry), and partly because I'm a fan of most of the bands playing tonight. For example, I cannot wait to see what Wild Orchid Children do with their choices.

And now, after seeing a partial song list, I'm even more stoked:

"Pink Elephants On Parade" - Dumbo
"Why Don't You Do Right?" - Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
"Poor Unfortunate Souls" - The Little Mermaid
"Higitus Figitus" - Sword in the Stone
"Once Upon A Dream" - Sleeping Beauty
"I'm Wishing" - Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
"Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" - The Lion King
"This Is Halloween" - The Nightmare Before Christmas
"He's A Tramp" - Lady and The Tramp
"I Love You, Too" - Pete's Dragon
The Gummi Bears Theme Song
"Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious" - Mary Poppins
"Part Of Your World" - The Little Mermaid
"Curiosity Leads To Trouble" - Alice In Wonderland

Tonight's going to be hilarious and fun and entertaining to say the least.

For further evidence, here's Kane Hodder playing the Tailspin theme song at a previous Disney Cover Night:

Disney Cover Night is tonight at Chop Suey. Doors at 8 pm, $7 cover, 21+.

The show was pretty awesome last night. Anyone know which band did the first rendition of "Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious". I dug them but can't recall their name!

"Why Don't You Do Right" is actually an old blues standard from the 30's. Peggy released her version in the 40's and Jessica Rabbit added hers to an 80's Disney movie. So to be accurate, we could've called it a "Songs Used in Disney Movies" cover night but that just sounds lame.
