"I'm 50!"
Kim Warnick of OG Seattle punks the Fastbacks turned 50 last night, celebrating with at a party at the Crocodile. A band composed of various Seattle rock veterans performed covers of the Small Faces and Sweet while a sizable crowd of Seattle music folks from multiple generations drank and mingled*. At one point, asked if she would join her old bandmate Kurt Bloch up onstage to do any songs, Warnick replied, "Hell no! I'm 50 years old, I've played in bands for 23 years, and I'm the most stubborn motherfucker on the block. No way." Ten minutes later, she was onstage singing Fastbacks songs. It was sweet. (For her 60th birthday, she's planning a party at the Key Arena.)
