I Understand Asking Bill O'Reilly To Not Be Such a Dumbass Is Like Asking a Fish Not to Swim

Nevertheless O'Reilly's report on Eminem's "offensive" new video and the allegedly incriminating failure of lefty feminists to decry the video's treatment of Sarah Palin makes me want to send him a hundred dollar bill with a note saying "PLEASE STOP BEING SUCH A DUMBASS."

As MTV News explains (for those without video):

Citing the attacks he received from women's groups for his criticism of veteran reporter Helen Thomas' views on terrorism, O'Reilly said he was upset that women's groups are not protesting Slim Shady, adding that "left wing" media outlets such as NBC News, The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times have not taken the rap icon to task. O'Reilly accused them of being biased against Palin and opined that if a singer such as Travis Tritt made a derogatory reference about Hilary Clinton or Michelle Obama in one of his records, the outlets would "kill him."

I cannot guess at the would-be experiences of Bill O'Reilly and Travis Tritt. But if the Left-Wing Feminist Monolith lashed out at every strenuously offensive shenanigan by Eminem—whose career commenced with ripping Hillary Clinton's tonsils out and will likely progress to a roofie-spiked threeway with Mahlia and Sasha—they'd have no time left to Rogaine their armpits and recruit America's daughters into lesbianism.

Also, O'Reilly's line about Eminem—"He represents the lowest form of entertainment in this country and is a publicity hound, to boot"—applies to no one so much as Bill O'Reilly.

Also also, let the record show that Eminem once rhymed "Bush Administration" with a threat to "mush the Senate's face in"—a clear threat to numerous female senators, which was met by lefty feminists' complete and incriminating silence. Case closed.

There's no point in sending O'Reilly a benjamin -- he'd just use it to light a cigar with, anyway.

Ha ha ha ha.. Bill O'Reilly saying, "... he [Eminem] represents the lowest form of entertainment in this country, and he's a publicity hound to boot" is the most pricelessly ironic thing I've heard all year.

THEN he says he's not going to show any more of the "crude" video, and 5 seconds later shows more of it!

Wow.

"Look at this pathetic attention whore. Just look at him, being crude and disgusting. No, don't turn away, give this awful low-life exactly what he wants. Now listen to me while I whine and bitch about how SOME people aren't paying attention to the shameless attention whore!"

Remember when people cared about either Bill O' Reilly or Eminem? Me neither.

bill o'reilly is the best (or worst) opportunistic feminist ever. drunk rape victims are asking for it, and sexually harassing female employees with loofah fantasies is all part of a day's work. but hey, eminem disses sarah palin (and, uh... a bunch of other women who i guess don't count?) in his new video! and the feminists don't even care! it's as though their outrage is based on politics rather than principles!! what a bunch of JERKS!!!

the irony of all this is almost too much to bear. i can't decide if o'reilly is a clueless idiot or a fucking genius.

I turned it off at 6 seconds when he said "Now I hate to sound like Andy Rooney". I'm certain it was the right choice.

I'm sorry, but did that woman he was interviewing talk about the "conservative feminist" group she's worked with, called "Smart Girl Voters"? Do these people choose titles to parody themselves on purpose?

Where are the Ladies Against Women when you need them?

What the difference is, Bill, is that nobody sets their personal agendas based around what comes out of Eminem's mouth. People do, though, base their personal agendas around what comes out of your mouth. That's the difference.

Musicians shouldn't be held to the same standards as pundits. That's it.

The attacks on Palin were sexist, but they reflected the threat leftists felt from her.

Wow, you're right Schmader, that was painful (more so the "Oh, you again?" bothersome pain, than the "WTF?!" excruciating pain). And I won't dignify O'Reilly's blather with any more…

But I will add this: There actually has been some interesting feminist response to Eminem's new video, including "An Open Letter to Eminem" by Kelsey Wallace over at Bitch magazine's blog. I enjoyed her thoughts on the role of parody in cultural criticism ("If we as audience members are being asked to accept racist/sexist/homophobic jokes in the name of cultural criticism, we should be rewarded with an intelligent point at the end of it all"), but I don't know where she gets the idea that there's hope for Eminem ("Isn't it time for you to evolve a little? Why not use your satirical skills [and access to producer Dr. Dre] to make a relevant cultural statement? I know you can do it!"). Does anyone else?
