Jailhouse Soft Rock

A King County Superior Court judge has sentenced former Dudley Manlove Quartet singer and Seattle Weekly staffer Paul Jensen to eight months in jail for stealing nearly $100,000 from his former bandmates.

Jensen pleaded guilty to counts—he was initially charged with 32 counts—and has been ordered to repay his bandmates $43,000.

Perhaps the deadline should have stated that he is the former lead singer.

They were probably able to recover part of the money he stole.

Maybe he spent the money, or perhaps since he was in the band a cut of it was his? Maybe if I knew more of the details I'd be more inclined to pass judgement. There is no link, so I can't read more into it.

The name is pretty Nambla-riffic though! Didn't they play private parties for that Seattle strip club sleazebag Frank C? That's some bad karma.

As far as we know, he didn't steal any wine from QFC, however.

Is justice served that out of 48 counts he only gets 8 months of work release? Perhaps not. But that's the justice system. All one can hope is that he thinks about what he has done and makes amends with himself and others he has hurt by paying the money back. Even though, he's getting away with a restitution based on a small percentage of the money he stole over the course of many years. Damn, that statute of limitations. For those who feel sorry for him. Don't! He's getting away with more than the general public knows. For those who want to damn the band. Shame on you!!!!! They are the victims here!!! Hello?? This has little to do with money and more to do with betrayal of a long relationship spanning over 15 years with some members. Something which no money in the world could ever repair! But alas, there is closure finally.

Going form a minor local celebrity to a man-without-a-bad disgrace ego stomping is worse punishment than the money. I was a big fan. I always loved his stage performances, style and singing. It's too bad he threw that away for 100g's... sure it's 100g's but he could have made that and more and still be a "cool guy" in the community. I guess when you have a big ego to begin with things like stealing become easier. People who steal money blow me away these days. There's ALWAYS a paper trail and sooner or later you always got caught. What's ironic, if he had just put on a ski mask, robbed a bank one time and never did it again, he could have gotten away with that easier than what he was going. But like most bank robbers, once you get away with it once you can't help but press your luck and do it more. Eventually you slip up and get caught.

a lot of band front men/songwriters get half, with the rest of the band splitting the other half. I'm guessing it's something like that, but only guessing, cuz of the 50 word cut/paste
