Dizzee Rascal : "Bonkers"

Posted by Dean Fawkes on Mon, May 18, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Dizzee Rascal's follow-up to last year's enormous number-one-forever "Dance Wiv Me" is called "Bonkers" and it came out today.

It's another collaboration, this time with Armand Van Helden.

Good punch-out. A bit late-'90s.

You can't say Dizzee doesn't now know how to go for the golden chart ring.

fucking fidget. this is terrible. everything awful and embarrassing about contemporary electronic dance music compressed into one shitty 3-minute song.

Not worth this post : the original mix.
Worth a post: the doorly remix.

I like AvH a bunch, the original mix is kinda "eh",
all the remixes i've heard have been approachable.

I'd say it's got better bass than most things
from the 90s, the rolling snares are more 00s as
that's when "baile" or whatever offshoot
became fashionable for kids in skinny pants.

HipHouse 2K!

I really love this.. probably my favorite single of the year so far? It starts off sounding like Westbam's "Monkey See Monkey Do" (both of which sound like they're sampling Liquid Liquid's "Optimo") then............. bonkers,

I can dig this. I'll play this again, and again.
