Security staff at R Place called police last month after a member of a violent motorcycle gang paid the Capitol Hill club a visit.
According to a police report, a security staff member called Seattle police on May 27th to report that two weeks earlier, on May 15th, a man tried to enter the club wearing a motorcycle jacket adorned with patches from the Gypsy Jokers, a motorcycle gang based out of Washington and Oregon.
The security staffer, the report says, tried to talk the man out of entering the club, and pointed out that R Place is a gay bar. The man said he was just meeting friends and was allowed inside the club.
Security kept a close eye on the man, but he left without causing any problems. It's unclear why security waited two weeks to call police—club management was not aware of the incident—but the police report says staff promised to contact SPD if they spotted any more motorcycle gang members in the club.
Seattle police have been meeting with club and bar owners around the city in the last few months to provide tips on identifying gangs because of a rise in gang violence around the city.
