Today in Musical Deaths

My iPod. Fuck. That thing had a lot of good work yet to do.

Update: Thanks to Brian Geoghagen's suggestion, I am now using Senuti to recover 4,910 songs to an external hard drive. That shouldn't take long, right?

What kind is it? Classic? They're pretty easy to fix especially if it's just the battery. But hard drives are simple too. Check out http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/

does it have the frowny face? i've heard that some people have had luck hitting their ipods...apparently there is a cable that connects to the hard drive that sometimes can be bumped back into it's working position.

so i say beat on the fucker. hell, you've got nothing to lose at this point. but i'd start gently.

That's a horrible thing. I actually lost one recently and the pain keeps coming back in waves (when I realize there's a lot of songs I'll probably never hear again -- not unless I spent a fortune trying to replace them).

So sad to hear it, Eric.

Super easy to fix. What ever died in it can be replaced.

@6: Eh, I've had this thing for I think two years now and this is the first I've ever had a problem with it. I'm pretty happy with it.

i've had 2 ipod shuffles and one 30 gig completely crap out on me, cause of death unknown. after 2-3 years the battery doesn't last more than a couple hours anyway. fucking things are practically disposable.
