And All It Took Was One Well-Placed Pair of Forearm Crutches

Okay, fine, I give, uncle: I am officially pro-Lady GaGa.

Yes, she's shallow and shameless and "derivative" (a word that, if it lacks "overly" before it, is without stain in this day and age). I do not listen to her music when I'm not watching her perform it (on TV, or in the above video). But she's doing some weird new stuff in the mainstream pop idiom that's all her own, and knowing, in a way that feels like progress.

Also helpful: She writes her own shit, and can make it sound like something all by herself.

I love her. She's fucking crazy and you don't get that anymore in the main stream, short of emotional breakdowns and shaving your own head in public. She's straight up Wesley Willis, Charles Mingus artiste crazy. Love it.

Meh. I actually hadn't heard her until just now. I thought maybe this wasn't her best song so I listened to some more and it's all really boring to me and I like pop music. The only thing that seems different about her is her look? : /
