Sam Beam, High As Fuck In Redmond

Posted by Sam Machkovech on Mon, Jul 13, 2009 at 1:26 PM

I was 90% sure Sam Beam, the namesake of Iron & Wine, was on something during his solo No Depression Fest set. His incredibly awkward KEXP interview a few minutes afterward adds 10 points to that percentage:

I heard very good things about the mushroom toffee (as usual).

I'm not seeing the awkwardness. That's just a guy who doesn't want to be interviewed.

there is NOTHING awkward about this interview. Perhaps a little nervous, but pretty engaging actually, and funny.

Yeah, if anything, looks like Sam was just being Sam...he wasn't high.
I was there too and that's exactly how Sam interviews, especially when the questions are of this generic sort...the headline on this post is very misleading.

I'm 99% Sam Machkovech was high on cocaine when he posted this. I have absolutely zero evidence to back this up, but again I am 99% sure that Sam Machkovech was high on cocaine.

Again, in case any one missed that: Sam Machkovech, on cocaine, no evidence just suspicion and speculation.

Evidence shows 99% of Sams everywhere are high as fuck on something all the goddamn time. WHO WANTS BALLS?!?!?!?!??

Eh...I dunno, I'm not seeing it. Seems like a pretty typical Sam Beam interview. If anyone was high as fuck, I'm thinking it was the cameraman.

Step off his Js; maybe he just doesn't like being on the business end of a camera. I know I don't. :)

Having not been at the gig, I'd say that this interview should reduce by 35% the odds that SB was high.

I got kicked out of area of the park by the show staff. I like shows at Marymoor and want them to continue, but is required and legal to kick people out of portions of a public park? It wasn't as though my kids hopped a fence, they just ran to a playground.

More than anything, I think it just speaks to an introverted artist being interviewed by a used car salesman.
