He Always Loved the Young America

Posted by on Fri, Jul 17, 2009 at 11:30 AM

TMZ just released a clip of a previously unreleased Michael Jackson song. It seems to be a remake of Neil Young America's "A Horse With No Name" with new lyrics and retitled "A Place With No Name." The chorus goes "Take me to a place without no name." (It's so grammatically incorrect that it's almost correct again!)

I wonder how many post-mortem Michael Jackson albums and creepy "duet" albums we will have to endure before the well dries up? Unlike Biggie and Tupac, there's probably hundreds, if not thousands of hours of unreleased Michael Jackson material.

Correction made. Please excuse Paul. He writes approximately 100 blog posts per day, and he refers to record albums as "singing books."

True story: I thought Neil Young sang that song too until about two years ago when I was berated for an entire evening by an avid Young fan/friend.

At least he wasn't an avid America fan. Thankfully, I think only one of those exists and he lives in the Czech Republic.

Believe it or not, this is a common mistake made by the masses & non-music nerds.

Oops can't post links,

do a youtube search for Ventura Highway, which is my favorite song by them. They were more like the Eagles or Crosby Stills Nash and Young. They also did that cheesy "You can do Magic"
song from the 80's.

Bobby Goddamn Bare Jr. thought enough of America (and parallel track 70's soft rock giants Bread) to cover their songs on a recent short-run ep. Bobby Goddamn Bare Jr. likes cocaine, the Stranger likes cocaine- what's the fucking problem here, why the disconnect?!?!?! Stop screwing with MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
