Bumbershoot Monday: Modest Mouse's Set List

Posted by on Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 11:31 PM

Modest Mouse just killed the whole damn festival on the mainstage, and a proper review will be coming soon, but for now, here's the set list, which for my tastes was pretty nicely balanced between new and old—the newest was "Satellite Skin," the oldest was "Dramamine"—with an emphasis on material from The Moon and Antarctica:

"Gravity Rides Everything"
"The View"
"Education"
"Dramamine"
"Dashboard"
"Satellite Skin"
"Baby Blue Sedan"
"King Rat"
"Tiny Cities Made of Ashes"
"Shit Luck"
"3rd Planet"
"Wild Pack of Family Dogs"
"Parting of the Sensory"
"Float On"
"Whale Song"

(encore)
"Paper Thin Walls"
"Bury Me With It"

I thought their sound sucked - maybe some rain problem?

Glad my ticket was free.

Definitely not good live...they didn't make a good ending for Bumbershoot, in my opinion.

Some of the songs i knew i didn't recognize until the chorus because everything was so jumbled up. The band could barely keep up with the drummer's accelerating tempo.

I personally love Modest Mouse's recorded sound, but live... not so much.

Man. I really wanted to see them but $50 to get into bumbershat and still not knowing for sure if there would be passes left to get into memorial stadium. I wasn;t willing to take that chance with the foul weather and all. I've never seen MM live, but seems to me like the kind of band one would enjoy a heckuva lot more in a smaller venue.

They did not play fly trapped in a jar -- It was King Rat.
