It's Monday! That means it's Dr. Frank Day! From this week's Stranger Suggests:

Frank Portman
Frank Portman (aka Dr. Frank of the Mr. T Experience) follows up his charming first novel, King Dork, with another darkly humored young-adult book called Andromeda Klein, which, he says, is "a portrait of a teenaged occultist." And because he knows book readings can be the most boring events on the planet, Portman is making sure tonight's appearance is actually fun by involving live music (including a short set of his own!), a tarot-card reader, and other shit most spotlight-hogging authors would never dare include. (Secret Garden Bookshop, 2214 NW Market St, 789-5006. 7 pm, free.) MEGAN SELING

And because he can't not write catchy and perfect pop songs, Portman also recorded a couple tunes to accompany the book and he's releasing them on a limited-edition red vinyl 7" (which you can buy here). Chances are he'll play the songs tonight, so you can brush up on the lyrics and be prepared to sing along by streaming the songs for free here.

If tonight goes anything like the last time Dr. Frank was in town, supporting his debut novel King Dork, it will be a wonderfully entertaining event.
