Tell me Kristen, how do you stop from your camera falling into the vast valley that is your huge, gaping vagina? Is it all that Mad Rad cum that keeps it out? God you're such a whore.

worst, most embarrassing idea ever. it makes a sub rate white boy rap band lose the only thing they have going for them....their danger and balls-out "not-giving a fuck" by being affiliated with a "confused old white safe politician", while at the same time exposing McGinn as being so out of touch with appropriate street-level pandering (or artistic gladhanding) that his handlers are shown as desperate enough to actually think THIS is a good idea. even putting him in the same room as these ridiculous talentless train wrecks, whose getting kicked out of Neumos is the ONLY reason they have been elevated to their present status, is a rookie move.

i mean seriously-i am a McGinn supporter, am a semi-regular at war room, and am a very active late-20s guy in the scene on the hill.

and this makes me not want to vote.

is the message this?-that if elected he will support douchebag vice magazine cokewhore sluts that get blowjobs in bathrooms and make horrible horrible music, or is the message this?-that he is so completely out of touch and desperate that he will practically be talked into attending an insane clown posse show just cause he thinks (or his advisers tell him?-which is worse?) it will make him win.

it doesnt even make him seem smart in a politically sneaky way. it just makes him look fucking idiotic.

Come on people, dont be so hard on them. If it wasn't for douche bags like Mad Rad the War Room would have closed its doors long ago.

McGinn's stop at the War Room on Friday was part of his tour around Capitol Hill that night. He popped in to a number of spots, including Neumo's and Havana, to check things out and press some flesh.

With many current issues pertaining to nightlife, and a concerted effort by those businesses to increase local political awareness, it was good to see a candidate out in the trenches, and experiencing it all first hand.

Like it or not, nightlife makes up a significant segment of our city's economic impact. At least McGinn gives a damn, and understands that business isn't just about big money development.

everyone on here who rips on mad rad or the new seattle scene surrounding them is so f'ing annoying. get a job, a girlfriend, a life...something. why dont you embrace the new music coming out of seattle rather than being douchebags and so sheltered and closed minded. everyone bitches about nickels being the "no-fun" mayor. now you have a candidate who is making an effort to help the seattle scene which has gone by the wayside since the mid-90's and you throw more tantrums. make up your minds you imbeciles. also wanted to say that mad rad was making big waves before the neumos incident and came through it bigger than before because of douchebags like you constantly keeping them on the message boards and nagging the ears of the people sitting next to you in your shitty bars trying to sound cool. grow up and open your minds, dont be mad that the crappy music scene is dying and one with a little more energy is moving in. uncross your arms and get off the back wall, you might learn something.

I have to agree with nearly everyone above... Mad Rad is actually Mad Boring... shouted, simplistic, white boy party rap... the only reason they have any sort of a following is that they have been thrown out of most cap hill bars... and so have several homeless gentlemen that I know, but no one is blowing them in the men's room. Champaign Champaign blow them off the stage (no pun intended).

hey 15-

not "hatin" here-just stating the truth. the fucking band sucks. bad. and sure they have a huge following. and sure they have made "big waves" regardless of whatever happened at neumos. they got lots of fans? so do nickleback. lots of fans dont really mean shit. unless you are in it solely for....lots of fans.
and that said, most music fans are dumb.

nothing you say in your comment takes away from the fact that they are a creatively worthless band, and that the decision to have McGinn have anything to do with them was fucking tacky and ham-handed. everyone loses.

mad rad? who cares? i dont. but i do care about the music scene here (which they only embarrass) and the political scene here-which yeah, needs an advocate for our nightlife....but the image of a mayoral candidate at a fucking MAD RAD show does anything but instill confidence that he actually thinks far enough in advance to do something structurally protective for our music scenes future, and instead just wants to grab a few fast votes from idiots that are too young/drunk/coked out/trust funded/ to even mater to the scenes future.

my first point is that if he really wants to make a statement about how he wants this scene to last and be protected he needs to be proactive with actual ideas, not just be led by the hand to shows by douchebags (you really think what he saw at this show will make an actual impression with him?) that just embarrass the city.

my second point is that no matter how many people like the band--mad rad fucking suck.

@15-

The "new" Seattle scene?????

If you mean "the hip hop acts that are getting some spotlight right now", why dont you just say it?
When you say "new Seattle scene" you actually sound like you are referring to bands outside of this one sect. And you arent.
You know, there IS actually a new Seattle scene that has nothing to do with 10-15 year old styles of music.

ps-my GOD Mad Rad are douchebags.

Why support a band that fucks up the backrooms of local venues and threatens the bouncers? Seriously, this little publicity whores have nothing to do with music. Anyone who actually cares for local music and who wants Seattle to be respected stopped listening the second they heard Mad Rad open their mouths. The fact that The Stranger keeps dropping their name is some sort of bad joke.

Yes, I've heard them. "Sugar Coated Panty Dropper"???? Seattle, support something that isn't a sorry neurotic spectacle.

What happened to that War Room ban?

"According to War Room co-owner Brian Rauschenbach, the three members of Mad Rad who were allegedly involved in a brawl with security staff at Neumos last weekend have been banned from six Capitol Hill clubs."

Rauschenbach says King Cobra, Neumos, Havana, The Saint, The War Room and Chop Suey have formed an alliance, so if you fuck up at one club, you'll be banned from the others as well.

"If someone has done something towards a club and we know the identity of the people, we do a joint ban," Rauschenbach says. "We just banned someone two weeks ago that got into a fight outside of Havana. It’s nothing directed towards Mad Rad specifically.

Rauschenbach also confirmed that Mad Rad will no longer be playing the War Room's Obama Inauguration show."

Steven- There's a reason you hear that on the Mad Rad threads. Didn't Neumo's do a Mad Rad ban? So these little fellers do their frat rap thing and go about town busting shit up and expecting everyone to coddle them? I'd just guess you would not be on this thread telling people to lighten up.
Last up- The Rebar was busted up by these guys. As in busting a dozen bottles on the wall in the back room and some candleholders as well, leaving holes in the wall, and then sneaking out. If there is EVER a hometown institution that no one with any respect for the music in town should ever trash, its Rebar. That is like punching your grandmother.
So add it to the tally- How many places have they trashed now? Why do they keep getting booked? Why do people care about them, is there an actual bad boy persona that goes along with acting like an entitled brat? There is a ton more hip hop more worthy of mention. I would like to see more of that written up in place of Mad Rad (the most written up band in town, so it seems). The music scene is like a stew, if you don't stir it up once in awhile then a layer of scum forms on top.
So, no, I don't like them at all.
I do like- most all other electronic music in town (an abundance of good things happening here), a good portion of non-electronic stuff as well.

Seattle hipsters are such haters. Loosen up your tight pants a little so your balls can breath you douche-bags. I saw MAD RAD Friday night for the first time to see what all the hype was about and they killed it. They had a great show and anyone hating on them must live pathetic lives.

Their bar-ban was lifted after they met with the Police and Neumo's is what I heard. They were only kicked out of Neumo's originally a fight with security. Let them have their moment of fame. Champagne Champagne were great too. I hope they break out of Seattle soon so you guys can hate more on this music scene. Nice to see McGinn checking out some Seattle nightlife on the hill. I already voted for him a few weeks ago.

That feeling you had that night of them "killing it"? Everyone in the room losing their minds? It wasnt the music. It was the blow.

Now, "Most Popular 'bad boys' currently playing in Seattle"? Thats an appropriate title.

But MAN do they stink.

27 it's more about the general hate on these posts. Mad Rad is a group, if you don't like them fine. No big. I personally wouldn't waste my time saying how lame they are etc. etc. I saw them Friday at the War Room and had fun. Enough said.

The Kristen Blush shit is lame. If you don't like her photography or her, then ignore it. I just don't see a reason to get so fuckin' personal. It would be one thing if everybody wasn't so scared to post who they are and hide behind a shield.

I'm not some hippy, but there's enough hate in the world. We have multiple wars going on where people are getting slaughtered and we just had a cop get killed sitting in his car. Now is not the time to perpetuate the hate.

I dig Kirsten Blush's photos and don't understand the hate, but I'm surprised McGinn's handlers would OK this photo op of him partying in the coked out Capitol Hill hipster scene--it's not exactly what a mayoral candidate wants to be aligning himself with. Hell, this seems like more the photos his opposition would be running the day before the election, rather than a paper that supports him. If McGinn wins, I sure hope his more liberal nightlife policies don't just cater to those half a dozen clubs on Capitol Hill, they are just a small segment of the entire music and nightlife community.

Layer of scum, yadda yadda, whoopty whoop. I make music that is the polar opposite of Mad Rad's music. It has not effected me once. It hasn't changed the amount of press I get, it hasn't factored into the money I make off music, and even if it did, would it be their fault? No. It's a supply and demand culture, and they have a grassroots following for people who like to dance. Simple as that. They brought out the women, and the guys who are tired of Brazzers.com followed. They became fans of the music and that's how a fanbase mutates into what we have today. Can't comment on the Blush shit because I don't know her but damn, you guys are fucking brutal. If what you're saying is true, who cares? I've tapped up a few breezies I've work with, so fucking what? You probably have too, but nobody would care if someone explained the sexual politics of the Renton Albertsons. @dan10things As much as I agree with you about it being a bit of a "testing the PR waters" move to be in the thick of the Capitol Hill Coke Den (TM), I honestly can't say that him showing up there is going to hurt his chances with anyone outside of that ridiculous, self-aggrandizing scene.

I don't hate Mad Rad. I'm sure they're nice dudes whose mothers all love them very much. Musically, it's been done a billion times (and a billion times better). White kids rapping about sex and drugs? Novel. They're not awful, but not worthy of the hype that folks give 'em by any means. They serve a purpose (epicentre of "the Capitol Hill white hipster hop scene", bringing all the emotional weight and posturing of pro wrestling along with them), and serve as the soundtrack to a moment for a lot of people (most of whom are too busy Twittering and jabbering on about their fixies to look up and notice).

More than anything, it's that whole scene of "If the apocalypse happens, I'll be looting Urban and Am. Apparel. Text me!" dayglo scenester kids with more money than common sense. If Mad Rad wants to keep fighting for that audience's loyalty? More power to 'em. Let's all meet back on this thread in 3 years and see who is still waiting tables.

right. cause Mad Rad is so popular due to PRACTICE.

The Stranger is just ONE outlet for bands in this city, douchebag. Sucks that its the only outlet you let yourself read....

which brings me back to everyones main point. The Stranger (the real target of these complaints. Not the frat rappers...) are only focused on this one band.

And if you wanna pretend like that means Mad Rad is the only game in town, then by all means go ahead. By doing that you just prove how small town this scenes mentality really is.

52 - You hate Mad Rad. We get that. All these people hate Mad Rad, we get that. But you know what, a shit ton of people love Mad Rad. And a shit ton of people talk about whatever they do. (Like you.)

If you really hate them, and they are doing you and your great love of Seattle music such an injustice, then don't give them attention, don't make comments all day long on a blog. Cause in a way, that's exactly what they want.

The amount of attention Mad Rad gets, be it good or bad, is attention, and that's gonna get them farther than no attention. If you hated them so much and they sucked so bad, why waste your precious perfect time? Just let them be, say nothing, believe me, they'll go away faster that way.

You never answered my question, why are you here? What band are you in? What's your project's name? What music do you like?

i honestly don't think a random person's post about how they thought a random band was okay is worth a huge fucking random rant by another random stranger. That is my random thought. Also, jesus, you are angry McGinn supporter. Why? maybe listen to some of the music you deemed appropriate for praise. Calm down? and hey, mcginn won! yay?

Truth be told The Stranger covers a majority of local acts around Seattle, its just that not many other bands have such a dedicated and faithful following of disgruntled basement bloggers ready to burn them at the stake. If you really wanted mad rad to go away (which I dont beleive any of you do) then quit pursuing your love hate band crush on mad rad, then maybe their 15 minutes would have been up a year ago when everyone first said what a joke they were.
