King Midas Sound's FACT Mix

Posted by Dave Segal on Mon, Nov 23, 2009 at 1:07 PM

UK lovers dubstep unit King Midas Sound have forged a beautiful mix for the FACT webzine. I'm listening to it now: It's a mellow glide through some dub/soul/shoegazer/isolationist/glitch gold, with the surprise inclusion of one of my favorite songs ever, Scritti Politti's "The 'Sweetest Girl.'" Check the mix here.

Tracklist:

Word, Dave. Kevin Martin is one of the most important artists of our time. For sure.

Agreed @2. Been following Martin's output since the early '90s, through many projects and permutations.

Wait a minute, wasn't all you's hating on The Bug's performance at Decibel '08 while only a few of us (cough cough) stood up for it?

Ah, the burden of good taste.

I didn't hate the Bug's set, but it didn't meet my extremely high expectations. You can read my review here: http://lineout.thestranger.com/2008/09/d…

Whatever the case, the Bug and King Midas Sound are vastly different-sounding projects that just happen to have Kevin Martin at the controls. You're comparing pomegranates to kumquats.
