BSE (TW) Wendy Rene’s “Bar-b-q”

Heard Wendy Rene's 1964 single "Bar-B-Q" at Moe Mod monthly at Moe Bar last night. Instantaneously fell in love with it and Wendy Rene's sassy, wild voice. So. Damn. Infectious. And that bass line? A religion should be based around it. This 45-year-old song is aging better than you are.

One of my faves as well. I remember the first time I heard it, I was sitting in traffic and it came on during someone's funk set and I wrote down as many of the lyrics as I could to find out what it was. Thanks to Stax's extensive singles box-set, it isn't too hard to find.
