Best Track of 2009?

Posted by on Mon, Dec 7, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Flying Lotus’ remix of King Midas Sound’s “Lost” is a contender for my favorite track of 2009. It’s getting to crunch time for obsessive music-lovers/list-makers, so expect more scintillating posts regarding this very important matter in the days to come. I will say now that King Midas Sound’s Waiting for You… is the front-runner for my top album of this year (read my review of it here).

What is your favorite track of 2009? Don't be shy.

I'll get it outta the way and go with 'On a Highway' from Animal Collective's new EP. It's this year's 'Street Flash', so Pitchfork will name it eight of their top ten tracks, and Grandy will ignore it in favor of Garfunkel and Oates and whatever local band gave him the most free blow this year, but still - gives me chills nearly every time.

"True To Form" by Lookbook, poppy yet dark electro beats and sweet/haunting vocals from Minneapolis.

Its tight but "Thrillseekers" by Andy Toth & Bill Love wins for me hands down. I got to see an ultra rare Live performance in Detroit that blew my mind. Way better than Andy's former group the Detroit Grand Pubas.
A close second is Lee Curtis "Smoking Mirrors".

I think Dabrye's remix was the superior one on that 7" The Lotus one is forgettable at best.
