Ah, if there's one group that takes me right back to middle school by the mere mention of their name, it’s Boyz II Men. It was the early '90’s, Cooleyhighharmony was the shit, and several of its tracks dominated middle school dances. Many guys my age may remember Boyz II Men’s music playing while we were being forced to slow dance: that awkward puberty exercise where you had to hold your dance partner no less than 3 feet away for fear she might accidentally brush up against the unpredictable boner-popping machine that lived in your adolescent pants. Anyhoo, middle school ended, music tastes changed, and Boyz II Men became a distant memory. But here we are in 2010, and the group is celebrating their 20th anniversary year? Rad? Sure, but I thought these guys had already come to the end of their proverbial road, like, forever ago.
In honor of their 20th year and in suave, loverman observance of Valentine's Day, Boyz II Men are headlining a "Love Cruise,” and tickets just went on sale to the public. The ship sets sail on Feb 11th from Miami to Nassau and back, returning on Valentine's Day. Can someone pleasssssse take one for the team and go take me on this? Please Please PLEASE??? (We could totally slow dance the close and correct way if you like, but no guarantees about the aforementioned machine, even at this stage of my life.)
On a sad note, Michael “Bass” McCrary (the guy with the deep voice, best known for addressing all the ladies with his smooth-talking asides on some choice B2M cuts) will not be a part of the 20 year celebration due to health concerns. Bummer.
