Ah, my suggestion was already mentioned! "No Children" by The Mountain Goats. When I get home, I'll have to take a look through my music and see if I can find a good second suggestion.

There are lots of sort of break-up-ish songs, but they're not all anti-love, so much as anti-bad-relationship.

@7 - Hey, I know that one, and I'm in my early 20s! Some of the lines are too graphic, though - they make me cringe. But, I've always been pretty squeamish. Still a great song.

As many folks have already mentioned, 'No Children' by the Mountain Goats. It's funny and bitter and really captures the self-loathing that one ofter suffers at the end of a relationship.

Like, the entirety of the Mountain Goats' "Tallahasee" (but especially No Children, and I'd say also "International Small Arms Traffic Blues") and some substantial chunks of "All Hail West Texas" (maybe Fault Lines in particular)

Liz Phair - Divorce Song, Fuck and Run
White Stripes - There's No Home For You Here
Nirvana - Polly
Cake - Mexico (not sure about this one)
NIN - Closer (maybe not what you're going for)
Bonnie Raitt - Can't Make You Love Me (too depressing for a party and too country for seattle)
Interpol - Evil (I'm not actually terribly clear what this song is about)

already said by others, but I agree:
Ben Folds Five - Song For The Dumped
Magnetic Fields - How Fucking Romantic

@57, YES! What a masterpiece. Just the perfect amount of bitterness for that sweet, sweet album.

@56, thank you. Good stuff, huh? You have excellent taste. I even saw Frazier Chorus in Cambridge in 1992; they were as good as you'd expect, marred only by the mysterious presence of a misplaced hippie dancer doing the arms-overhead twirly thing all show. They did their hilarious soft cover of "Anarchy in the UK". I've seen the Weddoes at least a half-dozen times.

@61, you remind me of the obvious:

"Bye Bye Pride" by the Go-Betweens: "I didn't know someone could be so lonesome; I didn't know a heart could be tied up and held for ransom" plus the best oboe solo in pop music (possibly the only oboe solo in pop, but possibly the best solo on any instrument in pop, so there you go).

"The Cassingle Revival" by the Lucksmiths: "your loyalties are divided between digital and vinyl, but I'm still waiting for the cassingle revival, because you promised -- when it happens -- you'll return.

See? I made myself cry again.

Well I'm coming in late in the thread, but the perfect anti-love song to my mind is an unknown gem called H-A-T-R-E-D by Tonio K off of the Western Civilization album. Starts off as a Country-Western crooner and careens right into heavy metal vitriol, and it goes something like this:

Well, I know it's not unusual, it's nothing so unique
There's probably hundreds of wonderful love affairs
that go bad in this town every week (it's a big town)
But all of them others, them sad hearted lovers
That cry in their beer...what the hey
It didn't concern me, was none of my business
I never had nothing to say

But suddenly darling, the table has turned
You have left me for somebody new
and now it's hard to express the resentment I feel
for the years that I've wasted on you

But let me kinda put this another way, OK?

Ein, zwei, drei, vier:

(Repeat first two verses, a LOT louder and a LOT faster, replacing 'wasted on' in the last line with 'pissed away on')

I'm so full of H-A-T-R-E-D, I'm bitter, I'm malign
You've got me P-I-S-S-E-D off, I'm angry most of the time
Why don't you G-O T-O H-E-Double L you tramp,
you philandering bitch
I'm going to K-I-L-L one of us baby,
When I'm sober I'll decide on which

But wait a minute;
I know I'm acting immature,
I'm acting like a child
I should display some self control
instead of going wild like this

And I wish I could accept all this
as simply life, which includes pain
And act upon the actual fact
that nobody's to blame

Oh yes, I wish I was as mellowww
as for instance, Jackson Browne
but 'Fountain of Sorrow' my ass, motherfucker,
I hope you wind up in the ground!

(And well, it just gets better -or worse- from there...)

"Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" turns into a great kiss-off song in the 3rd verse:

Wise at last, my eyes at last,
Are cutting you down to your size at last
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more

Burned a lot, but learned a lot
And now you are broke, so you earned a lot
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more

Couldn't eat, was dyspeptic
Life was so hard to bear
Now my heart's antiseptic
Since you moved out of there

Romance, finis.
Your chance, finis.
Those ants that invaded my pants, finis.
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more

I hate to be that dick, but the correct Magnetic Fields song is "I Don't Believe in the Sun".

think about it? Heartbreak songs are different. break up songs, not the same AT ALL. If you've never been in a relationship (hello, me) this is the anti love song.

I don't believe in the sun
how can it shine down on everyone
and never shine on me
how could there be
such cruelty

Man, I have got to stop feeling sorry for myself!!

i can't believe no one has suggested "wish me well (you can go to hell)" by the bouncing souls. come on, people. lyrics like "i just wanna punch you in the face / i love you / i guess i needed some space" and "say goodbye / kiss my ass, i hope you die". plus, it's catchy and the male vocalist kinda sounds like ben affleck. seriously, go download that shit.

Um.. I scanned all the other comments and I didn't see it but I absolutely don't believe it!

It's just plain impossible nobody's mention the whole PAT BENATAR anti-love repertoire!! "Love is a Battlefield" might have been in the but my all time favorite karaoke song is "Heartbreaker" and then there's "Hit Me with Your Best Shot"
While I'm stuck in the 80's for a moment I can't forget "Every Rose Has it's Thorn" by Poison if I remember correctly.. No more hair bands though!

A bit more modern I like Ben Harper's "Walk Away", David Gray's "Shine", and Macy Grey's "I Try" when I went through my hippie phase that is...

Gotta throw some of local bros in there though, DragStrip Riot kills it with "Why'd You Have to Come Back.. and Ruin My Life"
