An iTunes Mystery

Posted by on Mon, Mar 1, 2010 at 3:09 PM

Can anyone out there help solve this iTunes mystery? It's even possible one of you sent me these MP3s (Ill Cosby, maybe?). The problem: I have tracks in my player bearing only the identifying traits DEM1master/DEM2master, etc. up through DEM9master, but no artist name or album title.

The first track is really fucked-up downtempo electronic music with some guy intoning, "My mother is dead/My father is dead/My relatives are dead/And my heart cries red, blue, green, and purple." And it goes on like so, like something that the WordSound label might have released in the '90s—an infernal combo of the most atmospherically sinister dub and the most blunted instrumental hiphop. Whoever made this is seriously deranged and talented. Obviously, it would be nice to know who's behind it. Thanks for any help you can provide.

[This situation underscores the importance of thoroughly IDing your MP3s. We're trying to make you (in)famous over here.]

speaking of iTunes ... anyone know what to do if songs in your library SKIP? I load them in just fine, then weeks later they start skipping. I've looked in the iTunes online help, which isn't super helpful. ugg.

Not me. I am obsessive about ID3 tagging. Sounds interesting - the creator should step up!

I'm thinking those file names go band/artist initials > track # > "master" meaning they've been mastered if that narrows the search.
