My brother Gabriel Teodros always has a good word and a helpful tip to pass along. The other day he emailed me about his friend, the beautiful/talented Oakland-based singer Jennifer Johns, who is playing with Teodros and DJ WD4D at Chop Suey tonight:



This gorgeous song, "Ghetto Stories", features Bay Area MC Mystic, you remember her? You should. It also sports the same backing track as East Flatbush Project's classic "Tried By 12", which I never even knew had a video:

This song has always been a trip to me simply because everybody knows this joint, or at least that beat; but usually have no idea who the artist is, a fact not helped by EFP's super sporadic output. Six singles since 1994? What the fuck has this dude been doing?
