Bon Von Wheelie isn't a HE--but rather a SHE. Two minutes worth of research would've told you that.

thanks for posting this.
while i;m sure GT will most likely get this thrown out, it sucks that they gotta hire a lawyer just to deal w/ this crap.

...but without pay-to-play, how is Studio 7 going to fill out the rest of their ridiculous eight-band bills?

Somebody, please think of the metalcore bands.

pay to play scams suck, yes.

but I don't really see Girl Trouble walking away from this. The douchers at Gorilla Productions seem to have a decent case.

The worst part for Girl Trouble is that this will be their legacy, and it only makes them look like a bunch of whiners who didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Most bands either know better or suck it up once they realize they've been had and drive on to the next city.

Even though I knew Megan was working on this story, the first time I scanned the headline, I thought, "Oh, finally someone's suing Girl Talk for copyright infringement."

These fucking retards.

I get shit like this in my band's myspace inbox: "SHOW OPPORTUNITY: Would your band like to play a hip hop showcase?"

Yes, yes we would. And we also have a $5,000 guarantee.

Sadly, they keep turning us down.

Can anyone remember the name of the local 'production' company that used to do this on Sundays at the El Corazon? They suckered in one of my student's bands. I felt bad for them, bought a ticket and was shocked at how many 'grown up' bands were also on the bill - I could understand how a 15 year old might be taken advantage of, but someone who is 23 should know better.

Gorilla Productions are a group of crooks to begin with, so that's what makes this so comical. They stole a track from an album a song writing partner and I produced back in the late 90s, and used it without even getting in touch with us, for a rock station event promo that had been contracted (paid) to produce. We only heard it by accident, and got in touch with them threatening a lawsuit if they didn't settle with us. All they ended up doing was yanking the promo and replacing the music, and we never saw a dime from what they probably made money off of producing in the first place.

I hope Girl Trouble takes these fuckers to the cleaners. Oh, and if they want to they can sue me too. Because we are more than happy to add to their troubles by dredging up this case they never properly settled.
