Good Job, Garfield High

A fourth win:

Performing in perhaps the strongest field of bands in the history of the event, Garfield won the Essentially Ellington high-school jazz-band competition for an unprecedented fourth time Monday night at New York's Lincoln Center.

Rad. The awesome high school bands around here are a big part of making this place so rad for music.

Yes, YAY! One of my favorite things to read in the paper year after year.... Interesting to see if the local schools plan for next year will affect the jazz programs of Scott Brown at Roosevelt and Clarence Acox at Garfield. Seems like the best players might be more evenly disributed around the district now.
