He Whose Ox Is Gored Release New EP (So Long as You Have a Smartphone)

Local thrashers He Whose Ox Is Gored have gotten creative with how they're releasing songs from their new EP, OP AMPS II: Into the Ethers. If you have a smartphone (iPhone, Android, HTC), you can download the free Stickybits app (which sounds dirty, but isn't) and use it to scan one of the many posters they've plastered all over Capitol Hill. When you scan the barcode, you'll unlock two songs from the upcoming release (which was recorded by Tad!).

Neat!

The band explains it all in this video:

The whole EP will be officially released next month—they have a release party Friday, June 18th, at the Rendezvous with Sold Gold Eagle, Roareth, and Bleeding Hearts' Vignette.

(If you don't have a smartphone or are too lazy to find one of the posters, you can also access the songs via the band's stickybit page... but that's not quite as fun.)

Cold Lake using Kickstarter, He Whose Ox Is Gored using Stickybits... I like that our local bands are starting to think outside the box.
