The Serendipitous Return of Wonderful

Posted by on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 4:43 PM

Wonderful—the Seattle baroque sunshine-pop group who feature four members from dance-pop happinessmongers U.S.E—return to the live arena Thurs. Aug. 5 at Havana for the Make It Rain night, which is hosted by U.S.E vocalist Carly Nicklaus. This is Wonderful's first live outing in about five years. The guys are on the verge of issuing their third release and first since 2003's God Bless Our Pad, Wake Up to Dreamland.

Wonderful's new song, "Rainbow Colors," sounds like a right-on-time fruity cocktail of arm-swaying tropical rock. Bear with them if you feel like they're Panda-ing to the post-Merriweather Post Pavilion earscape. Chances are, the notorious perfectionists in Wonderful have been laboring on this song since 2006. Whatever the case, I smell a summertime hit with "Rainbow Colors." Unless I'm wrong. It's been known to happen.
