Teen Titans

Teen Porn evoke Californias dark side.
  • Teen Porn evoke California's dark side.
Idea: Teengirl Fantasy should remix a track by enigmatic new California group Teen Porn. Yes, Teen Porn. Don’t google it (DUH), their bandcamp page is right here.

Of their scant two releases, “Living End” sounds like the ideal candidate—it’s all weird haunted-house wheezes and whistles over a spare, streetwise beat. It has swells and drops but never morphs into something danceable or delirious. Their “Loose Fur” is a bit more complicated, but no less fearsome, and I have a harder time imagining what it might sound like after being sliced-and-diced by the TGF boys.

But my musing on the possibility of such a collaboration is maybe a little unfair: TGF have always laughed off negative assumptions about their moniker (it always sounded pretty innocent to me, evoking Tiger Beat, et. al), but Teen Porn are being pretty deliberate with their salacious “look at me, blogs” choice of band name. Which is not to say it’s not “earned”—their music is dark, evil club stuff. Paging Bret Easton Ellis.

If the resultant track—this imagined remix—ended up sounding too depraved, maybe you could throw Teen Daze in there, too. “Pleasant” and “groovy” are pretty much their specialty.

Teen Porn comes to my attention via Dead as Digital, just so no one gets the wrong impression about my googling habits.
