Posted by on Fri, Aug 27, 2010 at 8:58 AM

FYI: Wheedle's Groove is going to be on KUOW with the ever-soulful Steve Scher at 9am (like right now) this morning. And Light in the Attic writes to let us know that Mayor McGinn has declared Sept 4th "Wheedle's Groove Day":

We just got some amazing news... Herman Brown of the band Cookin' Bag received an email from Mayor McGinn's office, proclaiming September 4th "Wheedle's Groove Day" (which is the day the band plays Bumbershoot this year). Attached is the proclamation

The film will also be making its theatrical debut, happening at Northwest Film Forum from September 3rd and 9th. There will be special performances and Q&A's following each screening, including Q&A's with Wheedle's Groove mastermind Supreme and the film's narrator Sir Mix-A-Lot. Robbie Hill is going to give a drum seminar on either Saturday or Sunday. So far we've confirmed:

* Friday, September 3 - Performance with Pastor Patrinell Staten Wright and members of Total Experience Gospel Choir
* Saturday, September 4 - TBA
* Sunday, September 5 - TBA
* Monday, September 6 - TBA
* Tuesday, September 7 - Q&A with members of Cookin' Bag, along with King County Councilman Larry Gossett discussing the music, culture, and history of the Central District and the Seattle Black Power movement during the late '60s and early '70s.
* Wednesday, September 8 - Performance with Overton Berry
* Thursday, September 9 - Q&A with Wheedle's Groove mastermind DJ Supreme La Rock and the film's narrator Sir Mix-A-Lot, discussing Wheedle's Groove and the resurgence through sampling and hip-hop
