One Major Bumbershoot WTF?

Posted by on Sun, Sep 5, 2010 at 10:09 AM

Why is there no beer garden in the Memorial Stadium? It's not like there's no room, and that's where all the people are if you wanted to separate them from their money in exchange for over-priced beverages. At almost every other stage, the beer gardens have been expanded and given better sight-lines than in years past, so it's weird that there's nothing for the Mainstage. Has it always been like this and I've just never noticed before?

Since I believe the Seattle School District owns and controls who uses Memorial Stadium, they probably insist on stronger terms for concessions restrictions than any of the other venues at the Center.

I've been going since '92 and it's always been that way.

For every reason imaginable Memorial Stadium is possibly the worst "music" venue I've ever been in. Was there a pile of plastic water bottles at the entrance again this year? Way to be green, One Reel.

I'll be at Bumbershoot today, with an "Economy" ticket.

Yep, the school district owns it so they can't do it. Believe me, they'd love to have beer everywhere as would I.

Why doesnt the school district sell this overly valued land and build a new stadium in a cheaper area, take the money and bail it self out of the economic stress its been in? The SSD shouldnt be holding onto such real estate, and keeping beer from the masses as well.

My thoughts exactly. All the "green" signs everywhere, and the people at the gates make you throw away your frappachino cup, and pour it into a Coca-Cola cup. TWO cups for one drink.

Of course, just inside the gates you can buy a frappachino in a frappachino cup, no problem.
