Belle & Sebastian Wrote About Love, NPR Listened

Posted by on Tue, Oct 5, 2010 at 8:34 PM

An early track from Belle & Sebastian's forthcoming album sparked a friendly cross-posting dialogue about which (if any) entries from their post-2k catalog were worthy of the legacy of their early albums.*

Now we don't need to rely on "Write About Love" (the song) to guess whether Write About Love (the album) will be any good. Although you can't buy it until next week, NPR has the whole mostly pleasant, generally mellow, complete with plenty of guest appearances affair online now as part of their influential "first listens" series. Set aside forty minutes, have a cost-free listen, and judge its place in the Belle & Sebastian history books for yourself. Regardless of your assessment of the album, if you're a fan of the band you probably don't need a reminder that they'll be paying a visit to Seattle later this month to play the opening night of the City Arts Fest at Benaroya Hall. Miraculously, tickets still seem to be available.

* (FWIW, I'm very fond of the Life Pursuit and think that "Your Cover's Blown" is near-genius.)
