Night Slugs
  • Label of the Year?

Google 'Night Slugs' and you're likely to see a bunch of links to articles with the phrase 'label of the year' prominently displayed. It's hard to argue with a pile of jams from Kingdom, L-Vis, Jam City, Bok Bok and Girl Unit. If you're curious about the label or want to play catch up, you will be glad to know the first label comp, Night Slugs Allstars Vol. 1 is available now.

Check out a couple mixes by Girl Unit here and here.

Check out 'Wut' here.

Without a doubt, this is the label that set the bar impressively high for "bass music" this year. The release of Girl Unit's 'Wut' is pretty much a victory lap for Night Slugs, their 12 singles previous to 'Wut' had already cemented the label as a contender for label of the year. The year isn't even over, the Jam City single out next week is going to be one to watch as well.

Bonus clip, a double pull up of 'Wut' live. This is the best way to experience its power outside of a big soundsystem environment: shot on a choppy camera phone being bounced up and down by someone in the crowd. The bass floods the phone's mic and at the 4 minute mark, the mic almost gives out completely (this is what hearing loss must be like):…

P.S. This guy loves it too:…

Tremendous biscuit eating swagger at the 1:40 mark.
