Grant Brissey Is The Stranger's New Music Editor

Posted by on Thu, Jan 6, 2011 at 1:29 PM

This is in addition to his ongoing duties running our Traffic Report Central Command Station, getting drunk at Big Mario's, and not knowing what the hell he's talking about most of the time.

Congrats dude!

Now I can say that The Stranger Music Editor called me a pedophile to the tune of the Animals "We Gotta Get Out of This Place".

Congrats, Mr. Brissey. Looking forward to taking exception to your judgment, your writing, and your opinion on everything over the coming years.

I hope grant's first album review, as music director, is to place the CD on the floor, taking a picture with his cell phone camera and just titles it "Today's Album Review" with no further content.

how do you get promoted from web content coordinator to music editor? all i ever see of his "writing" is photos of I-5 or links to other people's lineout posts. baxter would have been a much better choice...

Apparently Grant found some things during the holiday Office Watch that certain editorial persons do not want made public. Excellent leverage for a promotion. Well done, sir.

The important point here kids, is that Grant spent hours drinking at Big Mario's, and thus got promoted. If any of yous all want a promotion, get to Big Mario's and spend at least 8 hours a day there drinking.

Hurrah! I've been a Grant fan since Officewatch 2009. Eric Grandy will be missed, but Brissey'll do a great job.

Great. A music editor with the music taste of a sandbag. I guess we'll continue the Stranger tradition of completely ignoring the portion of the Seattle music scene that made it famous and continue hearing about nothing but electronica and rap. And shoegaze. WTF is SHOEGAZE???

Are you fucking kidding me? So you go from a cokehead to an alcoholic? A pansy douche (Grandy) to a fat, drunk Douche (Bissey)? Who on earth is making these decisions? Dan Savage? Isn't he still listening to the fucking Mamas and the Papas? No wonder The Stranger faded into oblivion years ago. Fuck it, I'm out.

@ 22 You are confusing your sufficient and necessary conditions, dumbass. Let me explain. An addiction may be a requirement to being a great music editor, but it certainly doesn't guarantee that you will be. Do you see the difference? Probably not. Considering your 10th grade education and lesson in "bar chords" probably didn't teach you basic logic.

@23 Brah is strictly reserved for yer mama strokin me late at night. Have fun playing the "Comet", brah! I'm sure that minimum wage is treating you well. Ha!

Also, to some up, Grandy is a coke douche, Bissey is an alcoholic douche, but I fucked both of them!!!!!!

@24. Just because you're 85 doesn't mean you can't get out a little more. There is an entire hard rock scene that is still thriving (hard rock, not "grunge"). But you probably wouldn't know about it because you read the Stranger...

@25 Good one. I take personally speculative guesses from trolls on the stranger line out comment board. And no, I do not understand your sentence regarding sufficient and necessary conditions. Are those book terms you learned from your fancy school, which I'm assuming you attended given your contempt for those not graduating high school, that you learned to regurgitate at parties to seem important? Did you get your dick sucked?

Please spell it out for those of us who do not have a masters degrees in impressing other losers.

Wait, isn't he the one who replied "YOU'RE an {insert whatever insulting comment a poster made}" over and over again as though it were hilarious?

That is all I know about the guy because he doesn't have a distinct writing style. Why not Erdman or that dude from the Intelligence? They're so much more entertaining. You need someone interesting like an Everett True to draw people in, otherwise you'll end up another bland publication like the Weekly or the Rocket.

Brissey?! Maybe this makes sense in attempt to get less educated, hipster readers and the advertising dollars that follow them, but this cannot be a wise long-term business solution. At least the print version of The Stranger had some modicum of dignity left. Why throw that away completely?

It really should have been obvious, and I am surprised that still no one has brought it up. Nipper. Nipper Nipper Nipper Nipper Nipper.

Other than blackmail, the only other plausible explanation for this promotion is that The Stranger is in possession of cutting edge technology for print publications that is yet to be unveiled. This new technology allows embedding YouTube videos and e-polls, and cribbing large amounts of text from other writers is A-OK!

Um. I can't wait to see how this is going to pan out.
