214's "Drift Driving"

Posted by on Fri, Feb 18, 2011 at 4:12 PM

Local electro producer 214 (aka Chris Roman) has uploaded a video valentine to the city of Seattle to promote his new EP, Drift Driving out on the Netherlands' Clone Records subsidiary Harbour City Sorrow. The track features Roman's usual high quality control: a brisk, robotically funky rhythm augmented by a lovely, mournful synth melody swelling dramatically in the distance.

It's a big deal when a local electronic musician releases a 12" on a Dutch label. Congrats, Chris.

The dark electro reminds me of going out dancing back in the late 80s/early 90s. I'll always have a place in my musical heart for that sound.

Respect 214!

Very snappy, a little bit of a snarly yow on the bass-- sounds like the perfect soundtrack for some high-speed driving late at night.
