Hardcore Thrift Score in Burien, WA

Posted by on Tue, Apr 12, 2011 at 9:53 AM

I was dragged reluctantly to a thrift shop in Burien last evening by a friend who was looking for a set of dishes. I'm not wild about thrifting, I really don't need any more possessions and rifling through used things has always curiously caused one of my fingers to itch wildly. I stuck mostly to the books but was elated to find a batch of hardcore punk singles by bands that all start with the letter M.

I couldn't find anybody who knew if there were more records coming out. I was told that these had just hit the racks though. What a delight!

That reminds me, I really believed I'd find this lot in 1987, for some reason. Like, I'd hit the thrift shops only to buy some corduroy trousers and records. I was always looking for someone's "old" HC records...the Minor Threat EPs specifically. Never had any HC at the thrift store luck till I moved West, and then not major bank like this.

Awesome. I was at a used record store in Nashville last year and came across some old but near mint condition vinyl from Combat Records, the thrash metal label from the 80s. I was stoked! Everyone of them were less than $3.
