After fourteen years of celebrating independent music and culture, Seattle’s urban fiesta, The Capitol Hill Block Party, is again a three-day event! Thanks to last year’s community support and the influx of tremendous local talent, the festival continues on as one of the best and most affordable festivals in the country.

“The festival's grown every year for more than a decade because it's fun. Show up with friends or alone, and whether or not you pay attention to what's on stage, if you're friendly, you'll meet people. If you drink, you'll not drink alone. If you holler, expect a holler back. Feel like being social? The Block Party is your best friend." ~ The Seattle Times

ABOUT CHBP: Now in its fifteenth year, the CHBP remains dedicated to independent music, culture, thought, and progressive politics. With 5 stages and over 70 bands and DJs, the Capitol Hill Block Party takes place right in the middle of Seattle's most exciting neighborhood. CHBP is a city festival through and through, surrounded by the unique advantages of a true urban setting (restaurants, clubs, shopping, bars, tattoo parlors and several places to get a haircut!). The Block Party, owned and operated by Seattleites, focuses on the best independent national and local acts, bringing in artists often ignored or considered “too small” or “too new” for other festivals. The Block Party also introduces local pro-music politicians to music fans, registers voters, and activates young people to become civically engaged. It's a true community event, involving everyone from street kids to the Mayor, and raising money for local music and neighborhood projects.

Can't go wrong with LSF! Papercuts! Kurt Vile! Thee Satisfaction! Champagne Champagne! Constant Lovers! A great sweep of sounds modern, moody, and manic. I'd give a body part for Shabazz (and hope the Night Beats make it), but otherwise TIGHT.

What's up with Cold Cave and Les Savy Fav playing at the same time? LAME!

Solid LIne-up. Though I would have loved to see a band along the lines of Thao & MIrah added, then the ubiquitous Head and the Heart.

@6 - super-sketch, Black Breath would be one of my biggest reasons to attend. I'll still go if they don't play, but I'll be unlikely to come back next year if they're billed and they *don't* play.

We fucked up. Black Breath were on the cha cha schedule as a wish list band, and made it onto the line up, accidentally. We are trying to get them, but looks like someone said they are in europe? Getting to the bottom of this. We apologize! Its no mistake the art has been sprinkled with mushrooms.....we got some stoners in the back end of this program.
