VIDEO THUNDERDOME: "Go For A Soda" VS "Dog Police"

Posted by on Tue, Aug 16, 2011 at 6:54 PM

"Go For A Soda" was a gigantic hit for Canadian Kim Mitchell, "Dog Police" features a William H. Macy look-alike on keyboards. Both videos are beyond wonderful.

Which is better and why?

Dog Police was a finalist in MTV's Basement Tapes Competition in the early 80s.

Rail from Kirkland, WA eventually won the contest and was awarded the opening slot on Van Halen's Women and Children First tour.

You guys aren't even going to give "Calling All Girls" by Hilly Michaels a fair shot here?

'Go For A Soda' has a pretty awesome hook. Also, the hologram band are kind of assholes, which is both un-Canadian and un-hologram-like. Plus: credits!

'Dog Police' has nothing going for it. I'm sure it was played a lot on Dr. Demento.

New Wave and facial hair don't mix (with the exception of Ron Mael).
