Genius Genius Confirmed, Plus: THE PARTY COMETH!

We called it last fall, and now The New Yorker's Sasha Frere-Jones confirms: Shabazz Palaces equals genius ("it is unlikely the group will chart high" is high praise these days). Big ups to Ish and Tendai.
And this year's genius party is coming right up: September 16th, 9:30 p.m. at the Moore, with Wheedle's Groove, Wild Orchid Children, Emerald City Soul Club, and OCNotes. Get a ticket!

In case you missed it, the 2011 Genius Award for music goes to... the Intelligence. They got their QFC sheet cake, and their $5,000 check (and, obviously, review in The New Yorker) are coming soon.
