As it's the time of the month to watch the best ever genre of movies, the 1985 punk-tastic Return of the Living Dead should be a staple for any Halloween horror viewing session. It's a mostly typical romp through chemically infected brain-eating zombie gore that spawned 999 sequels, but the soundtrack is oddly blistering. Comprised of a number of classic bands past their prime, the highlight for sure is 45 Grave's "Partytime (Zombie Version)." I had a cassette of this soundtrack as a youngster and it was the first time I'd ever heard the voice of Roky Erickson. Can you imagine that? "Burn the Flames" as an introduction to Roky Erickson? Oh, the mortification!
Also, that T.S.O.L. track is from the era where they were getting bad but were still kind of good.
Here's the whole tracklisting:
"Surfin' Dead" by The Cramps
"Partytime (Zombie Version)" by 45 Grave
"Nothin' for You" by T.S.O.L.
"Eyes Without a Face" by The Flesh Eaters
"Burn the Flames" by Roky Erickson
"Dead Beat Dance" by The Damned
"Take a Walk" by Tall Boys
"Love Under Will" by Jet Black Berries
"Tonight (We'll Make Love Until We Die)" by SSQ
"Trash's Theme" by SSQ

Ernie Kaltenbrunner: Why?
1/2 Woman Corpse: The PAIN!
Ernie Kaltenbrunner: What about the pain?
1/2 Woman Corpse: The pain of being DEAD!
Ernie Kaltenbrunner: [laughing in surprise to his friends] It hurts... to be dead.
1/2 Woman Corpse: I can feel myself rotting.
Ernie Kaltenbrunner: Eating brains... How does that make you feel?
1/2 Woman Corpse: It makes the pain go away!
